Greece: Merkel awaits concrete proposal, Varoufakis warns of the consequences of a 'Grexit'
FXStreet (Bali) - German Chancellor Angela Merkel is crossing the wires, noting that Germany wishes Greece to stay in the Euro-Zone, and is now waiting for concrete proposals from the debt-stricken Greek nation.
Greece’s finance minister Yanis Varoufakis was quoted earlier on Monday, saying: “Exit from the euro does not even enter into our plans, quite simply because the euro is fragile. It is like a house of cards. If you pull away the Greek card, they all come down..."
RBS notes: "G20 finance ministers and central bankers are meeting in Istanbul today and tomorrow, and later this week EU finance ministers meet (Feb 11th) ahead of the EU Leader’s Summit (Feb 12th). As a result, headline risks around Greece’s potential bridge program are likely to be high this week."
