US's Pompeo urges India, Pakistan to avoid military action – Reuters

In a statement issued late-Tuesday, the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo urged India and Pakistan to avoid “further military activity” following the Balakot bombing by India, Reuters reports.

After speaking separately with the foreign ministers of India and Pakistan, Pompeo noted: “I expressed to both Ministers that we encourage India and Pakistan to exercise restraint, and avoid escalation at any cost. I also encouraged both Ministers to prioritize direct communication and avoid further military activity.”
